Lost at Sea!!?

No, this is not a picture of us lost in the Bermuda Triangle, but boating on Lake Monona. I have been delinquent with updating the blog--I can only blame the start of new school year, lots of tutoring and weekends that have been packed with lots of fun stuff. I am going to be totally lame and forgo the regaling of events in paragraph form and just show a lot of pictures with captions! I'm soooo sorry...but I'm just too behind and I still need to get some more housework done!
We made a day trip with Judy to see her sister, Twylla, in Shellsburg, Iowa. Also pictured is Twylla's son, Doug, who visited with us as well. We were treated to a fabulous lunch prepared by Twylla.
This picture certainly doesn't do the Iowa corn in the background justice. This was taken from Twylla's backyard. The corn was 12-13 feet high!

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we were graciously invited by our friends Scott and Michelle to go boating with them on Lakes Mendota and Monona. Here, Mark is pictured gabbing with Scott.
The governor's mansion next to Lake Mendota.

Mark jabbering on his cell phone while we passed through the locks which connect Lake Mendota and Lake Monona.
After passing through the locks, there is a stretch referred to as the "Lazy River" where you putter through until you reach the next lake. That is exactly what we were doing here.
While on the Lazy River, we stopped to have lunch at a neat place which had outdoor seating overlooking the "traffic" on the river. Here, Scott and Michelle are all smiles in the back of their boat.
This is Bourbon Street Grill, where we had lunch.

It wouldn't be a boat trip on the lakes if we didn't get a photo of the Monona Terrace and the Capital!
Heading back to Middleton on Lake Mendota.
Here I am on the first day of school holding Mr. Britches. He didn't really want me to go back to work. He prefers I tend to his needs all day.
On Labor Day weekend we had the pleasure of attending a wonderful wedding in Milwaukee. Our good friends, Korey and Martha, were married on a beautiful afternoon in an outdoor ceremony. Pictured here are 2 handsome guys, Mark and Phil.
Korey escorted by his parents.
The ceremony and reception were both held at the Schlitz Audobon Center on the northside of Milwaukee.
Mark and I were very impressed with the beauty of the hall, the attentive service, and the delectable food that was served. Outstanding and so much fun!
Lovely flower arrangements adorned each table.
Mark and I seated next to our friends, Matthew and Phil. My hand gesture indicates our very cool Table Number 10. We rocked the house!
Also seated at powerful Table 10 were Ingrid and Craig.

Our rosy cheeks indicate lots of fun going on!
Also seated at Table 10 were AJ and his wife, Suzanna. Pictured is our fantastic server bringing Ingrid and AJ a little treat.
Martha and Korey sharing a dance as newlyweds.
Early in September we visited our friends, Barb and Mike, at their lovely home built in the breathtaking countryside that surrounds the Spring Green area. Pictured are Barb, Mike, their dog, Francine, and Mark.
This is Fritz, Barb and Mike's newest German Wirehair pup. He is of a darker variation than Francine (pictured above), but they are the same breed. These are also pheasant/birddogs.

Mom and Dad came during the second weekend of this month. I wanted Mom to go to the annual Quilt Expo held in Madison with me. Dad decided that he wanted to go too. The three of us spent 3 hours walking around, looking at the vendors and the amazing quilt exhibit. We were very impressed with the different styles and techniques that were displayed. Also this weekend, I was able to present Mom with the Log Cabin constucted with batiks that I made for her. This was also the first quilt that I've made that I hand-tied.
And, finally, here is a photo taken from last weekend's wedding. I didn't bring my camera to this event (it was actually taken before we left our house to go to the church), letting somebody else be the crazy wedding picture-taker!!
